These limited interactions often felt insincere, especially when user interface elements interrupted the flow. In designing Xiaobu, Oppo sought to create a more authentic and engaging companion. They achieved this by clearly separating the face from the functional display and incorporating natural movements at the waist and shoulders, allowing Xiaobu to communicate more effectively through gestures and body language.

A standout feature of Xiaobu is its interchangeable hand module, which can be seamlessly swapped at the base station. This capability enables Xiaobu to perform a variety of tasks, such as ensuring users stay on schedule with unmissable notifications and assisting with reading fine print. In emergencies, Xiaobu excels by retrieving critical items stored at the base station.
