KG Motors, with its vision of “exciting the world with compact mobility,” is on the brink of revolutionizing transportation. In 2025, the company plans to mass-produce and sell its original ultra-compact mobility vehicles, further advancing their development of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) with autonomous driving capabilities. This vision aligns perfectly with the needs of an era characterized by a declining population, where optimizing mobility without sacrificing comfort or excitement is paramount. KG Motors is dedicated to ensuring that compact mobility does not entail pain or patience but rather offers a joyful and intriguing travel experience, all while contributing to a decarbonized society. The new vehicle, with a width of just 1,090mm, is about three-quarters the size of a typical minicar, making it incredibly maneuverable and ideal for navigating narrow roads. Despite its compact size, it boasts a peak power of 5 kW and a cruising distance of 100 km. Charging the vehicle is simple and efficient, taking only 5 hours with a standard AC100V outlet.

The design focuses on the needs of a single passenger, offering a unique center-positioned seating arrangement that provides a novel and engaging riding experience, regardless of the driver’s skill level. One of the most appealing features of this compact vehicle is its classification as a miniature moped. This means it requires no vehicle inspection, and the tax rate is equivalent to that of a moped. The vehicle delivers an ultimate fuel economy of just 1 yen per kilometer, drastically reducing the annual maintenance costs to about one-tenth of what it would be for a light vehicle. This cost-efficiency is calculated based on driving 10,000 km per year under a moped special contract, making it an economically savvy choice for urban commuters. Despite its small size, the vehicle does not compromise on comfort. It is equipped with essential features such as a roof, doors, and air conditioning, ensuring a pleasant ride in all weather conditions.

Furthermore, the vehicle’s software can be updated over the air, ensuring that the user always benefits from the latest technological advancements and improvements. This blend of comfort, efficiency, and up-to-date technology brings a new level of excitement to daily commutes.  A closer look at car usage in Japan reveals that 70% of trips are made by a single person, and 70% of these trips are short distances of 10 km or less. This data suggests that even the smallest cars currently available are often over-specified for the actual needs of most users. This over-specification leads to unnecessary costs for the user and imposes a significant environmental burden on society. KG Motors’ ultra-compact vehicle directly addresses these inefficiencies. As societal values shift towards minimalism, advocating for a life enriched by only the necessary and optimal, transportation must also adapt.

KG Motors recognizes this shift and proposes a new value paradigm with its ultra-compact mobility vehicle. By focusing on a single-seater design specialized for short distances, they aim to optimize transportation, making it both economical and environmentally friendly. In essence, KG Motors is not just creating a vehicle; they are crafting a new lifestyle centered around compact, efficient, and enjoyable mobility. This innovative approach promises to transform daily commutes into exciting journeys while significantly reducing the environmental impact. The future of transportation, as envisioned by KG Motors, is one where efficiency meets excitement, and minimalism meets mobility.
